"HOMERIC SHORES - PAINTING EXHIBITION by GIORGOS KORDIS"
The Spiritual Center of the Municipality of Lefkada has the honor of organizing the painting exhibition of Giorgos Kordis entitled "Homeric Shores".
The exhibition will take place in the "Theodoros Stamos" art gallery, from July 17 to 30, 2022. The well-known visual artist and writer will present to the art-loving public of Lefkada works from the section "Homeric Coasts", as well as from the "Song of Songs", "Eros Archangel" and "Eros and Psyche".
The Exhibition is prefaced by Mrs. Hara Saiti, who is also the curator: "Internationally renowned visual artist - painter, iconographer and engraver - George Kordis is looking for his "Homeric shores" in Lefkada this year.
He balances between myth and reality, always nostalgic for the journey through space and time, guided by his debtor. He goes through centuries of Greek culture, quenching his thirst for visual searches in ancient Greece and Byzantium and reaching the present day, expressing ancient truths with modern means. In his work, he treads freely on the conquests of ancient Greek painting and on the dictates of Byzantine painting, testifying experientially to the historical continuity. There he rests but does not stop.
A true child of his time, he does not hesitate to adopt modern techniques, after first having exhausted the study of traditional methods. Expressionism that distorts forms to heighten expression, hyperrealism to escape from materiality, abstraction to touch the longed-for spirituality. Inspiration is the flowing lines of the black-shaped vases, the metaphysical poetry of the Breath of Breath, the eternal struggle of the Soul that lives, dies and is resurrected through the process of Love, in an eternal confrontation.
Eros as a driving force in the imaginary universe of Kordis, flies with angel wings, suffers as an imperfect human being, writhes inwardly with deep pain, lands to give, ever escaping. Perhaps he is enjoying a summer raston on some Homeric beach. On some shore of Lefkada..."
