"Icon Art 2021" - Exhibition of Fine Arts to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution

The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, on the occasion of the celebration of the two hundred years since the Greek Revolution of 1821, organizes through the Special Synodal Committee of the Academy of Ecclesiastical Arts, an Exhibition of Fine Arts entitled: "The Holy New Martyrs and the Greek Revolution".

..."The Exhibition will be inaugurated on Tuesday, October 19, under the Blessed Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Mr. Ieronymos and will last until Thursday, December 30, 2021.“

In this way, the tireless hospitality of the monks, nuns and lay members of the Church, who create, preserve and breathe new life into the Orthodox Christian tradition and ecclesiastical art, will be promoted.

The Exhibition will take place at the Cultural Center of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, 15 Vassiliou tou Megalou 15, Athens (Rouf). T.K. 11 854, tel. 2103473887.

The organizers of the Exhibition address each visual artist and invite him to take part, with the following conditions:

1. The Exhibition will be inaugurated on Tuesday, October 19, under the Blessed Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Mr. Ieronymos and will last until Thursday, December 30, 2021.


2. The theme of the Exhibition is: "The Holy New Martyrs and the Greek Revolution".


3. Works of Traditional Orthodox Art are accepted, but also works that are free personal creation of the artist.


4. The type of works and the techniques are free. (Painting, Hagiography, Engraving, Mosaic, Glass Painting, Wood Carving, Micro Sculpture, Embroidery).


5. All artists have the right to participate. Each artist participates with 1 to 3 of his works. The works proposed for the Exhibition will be selected by the Jury of the Exhibition, which consists of the Members of the Special Synodal Committee of the Academy of Ecclesiastical Arts.


6. Any artist wishing to take part must submit to the Special Synodal Committee on the Academy of Ecclesiastical Arts of the Church of Greece (1 Iasiou and 14 Gennadiou, 115 21 Athens, Greece, tel. +30 210 7272268255, 6983772240), at the email: eat.ee@yahoo.gr or in an envelope at the above postal address, with the indication: “For the Special Synodal Committee of the Academy of Ecclesiastical Arts. For the Exhibition "Image Art 2021" for the attention of Secretary Archimandrite Bartholomew Antoniou Triantaphyllides", which will contain:

a) Short biographical note of the interested party, which will also contain contact details (address, telephone numbers, e-mail).


b) A photograph of one to three (1 3) of his works, with which he wishes to take part in the Exhibition (the photographs indicate: artist name, title, material, dimensions of the work).


The files will be submitted electronically or in person or by mail by August 31, 2021.
