"Mount Athos: The Ark of Orthodoxy" - Exhibition in USA
Agioreitiki Estia of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the Mount Athos Foundation of America.

Agioreitiki Estia of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the Mount Athos Foundation of America, present in America the event entitled "Mount Athos: The Ark of Orthodoxy". The event will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the Maliotis Cultural Center of the Hellenic College and School of Theology of the Holy Cross in Boston.
The event includes the presentation of the exhibition of the same title, which captures the thousand-year history of Mount Athos through texts and photographic material. For this purpose, special panels have been designed in twenty of which the history of the Holy Monasteries of Mount Athos is presented, while in the rest, visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to learn basic information about history and institutions, art, the architecture, the spiritual life and the natural environment of Mount Athos.
The exhibition will remain at the Maliotis Cultural Center until the end of November.
Also, on Tuesday, September 13, there will be a conference dedicated to the Athonian state, the program of which is as follows:

14:10 – 14:30 Greeting by the Theophilus Archbishop of America Mr. Elpidophoros
14:35 – 14:45 Greeting of the Holy Community of Mount Athos by its representative, Hieromonk Loukas Xenofontinos
14:50 – 15:00 Greeting of the Holy Home by Anastasios Douro, director of the organization 15:05 – 15:20 Speech by Hieromonk Loukas Xenofontinos entitled "The art of Mount Athos" 15:25 – 15:40 Speech by Anna Merkel, mother of an American monk who renounces on Mount Athos
15:45 – 17:00 Guided tour of the exhibition
17:00 – 19:00 Vespers at the temple of the Hellenic College and the Theological School of the Holy Cross
19:00 – 19:45 Screening of film material related to Mount Athos in 1929, discovered at Princeton University and introductory speech by Alice Sullivan (Tufts University)
19:30 – 20:30 Presentation of the Princeton University archive on Mount Athos (photos and audio-visual material) by Julia Gearhart and Maria Alessia Rossi (Princeton University)
Throughout the exhibition and the evening, audiovisual material will be shown with the work and actions of the Agioreitiki Hestia, while the organization's publications will be presented in showcases within the exhibition.
